This series of three titles was originally released in 2001 to critical acclaim. Created by the generous support from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, the series was recorded in Pratt Hall where every attempt was made to achieve the sound quality of a live concert hall. First Class! Music for the Beginner Ballet Lesson Directed by Charles Flachs and performed by Lada Isupova offers a collection of 33 different classical melodies. A couple of pieces are original melodies which sound classical in style. This CD was made for young dancers, so the music is very easy to follow and offers a great introduction to the wonders of very danceable classical music. There is music for a short and through barre followed by exercises in the center and ten tracks for allegro work. If you use each track on this CD, the kids should be well danced by the time it is finished.
